NEW REVELATIONS IN TORRE MURDER CASE

Rafiel Torre (left) with MMA insider Shiloh McIver.

Taken from LukeBeston.NET:

Some more news on the Rafiel Torre murder case. First, a source has confirmed our earlier scoop about Torre getting beat up in jail. At his last court appearance, Torre had a large bruise on the side of his head and two black eyes, so it appears that the beatings were more severe than what I was first told. His preliminary hearing should take place some time in June, so it looks like Torre is in for some rough times ahead.

After inquiring about the nature of Rafiel Torre's relationship with his victim, Bryan Richards, we've learned that it was Richards gave Torre the money to open his martial arts school and Torre pretended to be his friend while having an affair with his wife, Angel Richrads. Bryan Richards' murder, as we'd reported before, was part of a scam concocted by Torre with Angel Richards to collect on a $1 million life insurance policy. The insurance company has still not paid the claim, which has prompted Angel Richards to file a lawsuit against them. That case is still pending in court.

Torre, born Ralph Bartel, was with the brothers of Bryan Richards the night his body was discovered. He accompanied them to the police station nursing a fresh wound on one of his hands. Prior to the murder, Torre had injured the hand while working on his car and had called Bryan Richards, who drove him to the hospital to have the hand treated. The wound had begun to heal, but witnesses noticed fresh blood on Torre's bandage the night of the murder, which might indicate that a struggle took place during the murder and Richards may have attempted to defend himself. Torre attended the victim's funeral, then joined the family to mourn at the Richards residence. He moved in with Angel Richards shortly after.

The most shocking and disturbing news, however, is that Torre's role in the murder has been widely known throughout the mixed martial arts community in California all along. Sources close to LukeBeston.NET have reported that well known promoters, fighters and others in the local MMA scene may have aided in the coverup of this heinous crime.

If you have any information that can aid in the prosecution of all parties responsible for this crime, please call the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department at (909) 387-3545 and ask for Detective Brad Toms. You owe it to Bryan Richards and his family, in particular his two children, ages 5 and 3.

MONSON SPEAKS OUT ABOUT ARNOLDS INCIDENT

Jeff Monson

Jeff Monson released the following statement regarding the incident at the Arnolds:

"Although my match and the match between 'Pe De Pano' and Wade Rome was at the center of the controversy at the Arnolds, I think it is important to come forward and say that the grappling community as a whole was wronged by Relson Gracie and his reoccuring unfairness and money mongering year after year at the Arnolds. Relson Gracie gives grappling a bad name, is a disgrace to the Gracie family, and continually brings out the worst in everyone he deals with.

It is not fair to start a Brazilian vs. American war, or even say the Gracies are not fair. I recently competed in the Rorion submission tournament in California, and although the rules were geared for a guard player everyone was treated with the utmost respect. Toward the end of a match between me and Rorion's own son there was a dispute that could have given the match to Renner. Rorion stepped in, restarted the position and said, "let the competitors decide it on the mat." A class act and also fair to the those competing.

When people travel from all over the country and pay $100 a pop to compete in the Arnolds, Relson owes them 2 things: a smoothly run tournament and fairness. He continually uses the same hall although the tournament has long outgrown it resulting in lines of 30-70 people waiting to get in because the fair marshall wouldn't let anyone else go in.

Relson is interested in making money, not about the spectators and certainly not about the competitors. This is not an opinion. This is a fact based soley on relson's own actions. Unfortunately, Relson hides behind his Gracie name and no one has the fortitude to come forward and tell him to 'fuck off'. He hurts the sport but because of his name and sponsorships he has the means to greatly promote it.

However, as I stated, he cares more about himself than others or the sport itself. During my match Relson had the opportunity to be fair but chose otherwise. A woman (whose name I do not know) was taping the fights and doing some documentary on the pro competitors, taped the morning rules meeting and offered to show on her camcorder the part where Relson said and showed it was o.k. using the canopener to open the guard. He refused, saying "I know the rules to my own tournament."

During the melee several competitors pointed out to Relson the rules meeting where he had discussed this but he retorted, "are you calling me a liar?!" Even after the tournament director John Cooper announced 2x over the loud speaker the match would be restarted. Relson buckled under Pe De Pano's threats of boycotting the tournament and told the ref to announce Pe De Pano the winner. This of course was after Wade took down Pe De Pano but was not awarded points. As a slap in the face, Relson later told Wade that he thought Wade won the match. Why didn't he step in during that match?

Pe De Pano and I split the 1st and 2nd place money. This was not due to anything that happened in the match. This was agreed upon before the match between me and Pe De Pano regardless of the outcome, and to his credit he was true to his word. Although I don't agree with his action of not continuing to fight, I don't blame Pe De Pano. Relson held the power to make the decisions, not Pe De Pano or anyone else.

I regret I took down the ref; although for not standing up for what he thought (he said several times the match should continue), he should be held accountable as well. I wish instead that I punched Relson right in his lying mouth. If certain competitors don't like getting their neck cranked on and don't want to be in a tough match, then I suggest they sign up for the Arnold women's table tennis tournament they hold downstairs from the grappling.

Finally, I would like to thank my ATT team and coaches for the great training but especially the continued support." -Jeff Monson

INSIDE SCOOP: FIGHT BREAKS OUT AT THE 'ARNOLDS'

By Scoop McTroll

Jeff Monson

The entire night was filled with problems but during the last match all hell broke loose.

The final was between 'Pe De Pano' and Jeff Monson. Monson had a neck crank on when suddenly the ref disqualified him and awarded first prize to Pe De Pano. A huge argument broke out and Jeff Monson attacked Leo Dalla, taking him down and beating on him. He had to be pulled of by five people.

Witnesses say that Monson was screwed by the judges.

Security was called in to break up the riot and police attended. No further details at this stage.

'TANK' VS. BRIGGS POSSIBILITY

Tank Abbott vs. Shannon Briggs

Fightsport.com first reported last November that K-1 was looking to sign 'Tank' Abbott to a multi-fight contract for both MMA and K-1 rules fights.

Now we have learned that K-1 has come back to the table and has offered Tank a very substantial contract offer.

If Tank signs with K-1, his first fight on the deal would be against former heavyweight boxing champion Shannon Briggs on the K-1 Vegas, which is scheduled for April 30th at the Bellagio.

Reports were that Tank was going to re-sign with the UFC and fight Ken Shamrock in UFC 47 on April 2nd. Although Tank hasn;t signed anything official with the UFC yet, his re-signing may now be in doubt altogether if he signs with K-1.

More info to come in the next week.
